A Day of Joy and Learning: Cargo Community Network Brings CCSS Children on a Special Outing to the Singapore Zoo

At Cargo Community Network (CCN), we believe that community support goes beyond corporate contributions—it’s about creating meaningful experiences that spark joy, learning, and connection. This month, we had the privilege of partnering with the Care Community Services Society (CCSS) to bring a group of children on an unforgettable day out at the Singapore Zoo.

The outing was part of CCN’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and our belief in nurturing the next generation through exposure, exploration, and fun. And what better place to inspire young minds than one of the world’s most celebrated wildlife parks?

A Day Filled with Excitement

Upon arrival, CCN staff volunteers were grouped with the children and each group was assigned an animal team—complete with colourful team lanyards that the kids wore proudly throughout the day. The excitement grew as the children learned they would be working together to complete a special task: recording as many animals as they could spot around the zoo.

The adventure kicked off with the lively Splash Safari show, where the children cheered as the park’s talented sea lions impressed the crowd with their agility, playful antics, and powerful dives. Laughter and applause filled the amphitheatre as the sea lion performed clever tricks and demonstrated the importance of marine conservation.

From there, the groups continued exploring beloved attractions around the Singapore Zoo, including stops at:

  • Treetops Trail – Children were greeted by the lively calls of free-roaming primates swinging overhead, creating an exciting rainforest atmosphere. They also spotted small animals like otters and mousedeer, making the trail feel like a walk through a living jungle
  • Reptile Garden & RepTopia – This zone introduced the children to fascinating reptiles such as snakes, lizards, and giant tortoises in beautifully designed habitats. Interactive displays helped them learn about how these creatures survive and adapt in the wild
  • Primate Kingdom – Each primate species lived on its own “island,” giving the children a close look at different monkey and ape behaviors. They enjoyed observing how each species moved, played, or interacted within its natural-style environment.
  • Wild Africa – The children were awestruck as they observed giraffes, lions, zebras, and cheetahs roaming across expansive open enclosures. Keeper insights helped them understand the unique traits and conservation needs of these majestic animals.
  • Fragile Forest – Inside the Fragile Forest biodome, the children walked among free-flying butterflies, lemurs, and other rainforest creatures in a lush, immersive environment. They enjoyed being so close to animals roaming freely around them, making it one of the most magical parts of the day.
  • Rainforest Kidzworld – This family-friendly area was where the children enjoyed their lunch, sharing smiles over KFC meals in a lively, relaxed environment. After lunch, they had fun exploring the play areas and engaging with animal-themed activities, making it a perfect break between exhibits.
  • Zootopia 2 “Join the Wild Patrol!” Experience – As part of the Zoo’s special event, the children received fun Zootopia-themed patrol kits and explored interactive checkpoints inspired by the movie. They enjoyed solving clues, exploring themed zones like “Marsh Market,” and collecting badges as part of their adventure.
The day ended on a high note with the immersive “Into the Wild” animal presentation, a captivating show highlighting the beauty of wildlife and the importance of protecting natural habitats. After the show, the children had the exciting chance to touch snakes up close and joined a fun game where they won prizes for naming their favorite animals, bringing out their competitive spirit and teamwork.

Throughout the journey, the young explorers eagerly noted down each animal they spotted as part of their group challenge. After tallying the results, Team Elephant emerged as the champion—recording an impressive 130 animals spotted during the outing.

Bonding Through Shared Experiences

Beyond the animals, what made the day meaningful were the interactions—between the children, CCN volunteers, and CCSS staff. Our team members walked with the kids, helped them explore the exhibits, and engaged them in conversations about nature, wildlife protection, and environmental care.

These small moments of connection reinforced the importance of community involvement and the role companies can play in supporting social organisations like CCSS.

A Heartfelt Thank You

This special outing would not have been possible without the dedicated support of:

  • CCSS, for their trust and partnership

  • Singapore Zoo, for providing an engaging and educational environment

  • Our CCN volunteers, who showed up with heart, energy, and a genuine desire to make a difference

Together, we created memories that the children—and our team—will cherish for years to come.

Our Commitment to Community Continues

The success of this event strengthens our commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and contributing to a more compassionate Singapore. At Cargo Community Network, we’re already planning future initiatives to further our impact and deepen our partnerships with social service organisations.

We look forward to continuing this journey of giving back—one meaningful experience at a time.
